Perfect Reading Style

I disagree with the other review. We absolutely love the lack of affect. It's the next best thing to chant. My wife and I listen to these homilies on our way to Divine Liturgy, Thank you for your efforts.

Her voice is so easy to understand. I use this to help teach English. And the spiritual teachings of Macarius are so relevant. Excellent book and excellent reading.

Great Read

Worth the time, Macarius focuses on Total Sanctification of the soul, simply before the eyes of God. He does not provide social Theology, or dogma etc - but a truly mystical approach to the mysteries of the Christian life in real time, from his cave in Egypt. It is worth the pilgrimage to go sit and listen to what he has to say. God bless you, traveler.

Excellent!

Great Stuff

This book is wonderfully profound and insightful and contains a wealth of thought-provoking ideas which will really help you explore your faith and your relationship to God and the World. That being said I think this book is really quite accessible and helpful even for people who are not particularly interested in religion. There are many valuable reflections on mental discipline, self-control, self-reflection and self-improvement here that would put any more modern philosophy or self-help books to shame. The reader is also excellent, he is fluent and clear and doesn't make a single mistake throughout the entire book. For some people the reading might seem somewhat monotone however personally I feel that the measured pronunciation and pace are very well suited to focus on the text itself these are ideas that you should take your time to really absorb after all.

Very poorly read ...

Very poorly read ... No intonation, lack of feeling while reading ... Thanks for the effort anyway, but i think i'll continue with the book.
