Great Detective Stories
Allan Pinkerton
Read by LibriVox Volunteers
Allan Pinkerton, founder of the Pinkerton Detective Agency, wrote a number of "great detective stories", which he claimed were "literally true". We may call this assertion into question, but they were doubtless based, however loosely, on his actual experiences. This volume brings together two of the stories, The Somnambulist and the Detective; and The Murderer and the Fortuneteller. - Summary by LynneT (6 hr 19 min)

Interesting story lines
Curious Reader
Sometimes I listen to a story and weaknesses in narration fade away because the story line is that interesting. Such is the case here. I can only imagine how great this book would be if one of the best narrators read it! Some of the narrators on this book are better than others, but no one narrates for that long. The story lines are the stars here.
