Road Of Life
Irna Phillips
Road of Life was a popular radio soap opera produced by Procter and Gamble, featuring the story of Dr. Jim Brent. The series began in 1937 and ended on radio in 1959, with a concurrent television run starting in 1954. Its appeal lay in its more natural dialogue compared to other soap operas, and the characters aged over the years.
Listeners followed Brent through various life challenges, including friendships and marriages. These episodes from the Hehn collection represent most of the recordings from late December 1944 to early March 1945, with many being direct from the original transcriptions.
In support of the efforts of the Joe Hehn Memorial Collection, the Society to Preserve and Encourage Radio Drama, Variety, and Comedy (SPERDVAC) magazine Radiogram featured a four-part series of articles about the program. The collection is a testament to the dedication of volunteers who have worked to preserve these important recordings.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
